Abalone is a natural shell.  Colors and patterns will vary in each piece.

These beautiful, iridescent drop earrings feature lightweight Abalone shell charms that are shaped like a leaf or a feather.  They have carved lines on the front side, and slick Abalone shell on the reverse side (as seen in Photo #4).  Photo #5 shows the variations that can occur in the shell.

Lever-back earring components have a lever in the back that opens and closes to protect your earring from accidentally coming undone and falling out.

Abalone is a variety of mollusks or sea snails with ear-shaped shells.  They feed on different varieties of seaweed, which creates the different colors in their shell as they grow.  When viewing their vibrant, iridescent shell in various lighting and at different angles, their colors can change revealing many hues of blue, green, purple, pink and gold.

Many cultures believe Abalone shells have a calming, soothing, and healing energy which calms the mind and relaxes the spirit.  The Maori people of New Zealand call their Abalone “Paua” and believe it can bring luck, peace, and prosperity to the person wearing it.
