The arrowhead symbol signifies alertness. Native American Indians believed that wearing a polished arrowhead as a talisman would protect them from harm, enemies or the elements.
Tiger iron is a gemstone that contains natural layers of tiger’s eye, red jasper and hematite gemstones. The stone can display unique vertical and horizontal banded patterns of these materials. Each pendant is unique, due to its natural organic material. Photo #4 is of an alternate pendant, to show the variations that can occur.
Tiger iron was formed more than 2.2 billion years ago. It is believed to be a rare and potent three-fold stone, carrying the energies and attributes of its three parents. Traditionally it has been used as a grounding stone to build stamina and encourage creative expression.
The brown heishi cut beads are pen shell. Pen shell is a saltwater bivalve mollusk that has a black or brown fan-shaped shell. It resembles a quill pen in outline, which is where it gets its name. Pen shell has a long history with Native American artists who have used the shell for jewelry.
